AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD
WASHINGTON AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 781,
SECTION 3 AND ORDINANCE NO. 881, SECTION
1, (Port Orchard Municipal Code 5.56)
AND INCREASING THE MAXIMUM TAXI RATES
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ORCHARD DO
ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
3I0 SECTION 1. THAT Section 3 of Ordinance No. 781 and
Section 1 of Ordinance No. 881 (Port Orchard Municipal
Code Section 5.56.230 and 5.56.240) are hereby amended to
read as follows:
5.56.230 Maximum rates--Waitino time --Return
charges prohibited. (a) No person owning, operating or
controling any taxicab within the City limits shall charge
to exceed the following rates:
(1) For the first one mile or fraction thereof,
one dollar;
(2) For each succeeding mile or fraction thereof,
one dollar and fifty cents;
(3) For each additional person for the whole
journey, fifty cents; if not together charge as two separate
fares;
(4) For waiting time, the time will be prorated
at the rate of twenty dollars per hour;
(5) No charge will be made for children under the
age of six years when accompanied by his/her parent, guardian
or other paying passenger;
(6) "Waiting time" includes the time when the taxi-
cab is not in motion, beginning with the arrival or the place
to which it has been called, or the time consumed while standing
at the direction of the passenger, but no charge will be made
for time lost for inefficiency of the taxicab or its operator,
or for the time consumed for premature response to a call;
(7) Stops made by customers/passengers will be
charged at fifty cents per stop;
(8) Charges for car jump shall be at normal charge
to scene plus five dollars. If car does not start, charge shall
be two dollars and fifty cents plus trip charge.
(9) There shall be an extra charge of one dollar for
wheel chairs or for three or more pieces of baggage;
(10) No return charge whatsoever shall be made for
any distance traveled within the City regardless of the
commencement or finish of the trip.
5.56.240 Hourly Rates. Taxicabs operated for hire
by the hour shall not charge rates in excess of the following:
(1) For the first fifteen minutes, or fraction
thereof, five dollars;
(2) For the first hour, twenty dollars;
(3) For fifteen minute periods or fractions,
thereafter not totaling a full hour a rate of four dollars.
