Festival of Chimes and Lights
Committee Minutes
Monday, August 23, 2021; 3:30 p.m.
Members present via remote access: Chair Lucarelli, and City staff Main and Rinearson. Guests present
via remote access: Rita Mitchell, a Port Orchard citizen; Kathy Garcia, Port of Bremerton; Christine
Stansbery, Sidney Museum and Arts Association and Port Orchard Bay Street Association; Sandy
Jennings, Soroptimist; Sharron King, Fathoms O' Fun Festival, Inc; and Coreen Haydock, Port Orchard
Bay Street Association.
Utility Billing Inserts
Staff Rinearson explained due to this expense being event related, and the current COVID situation, the
Mayor is recommending to not move forward with the utility billing inserts. The last time inserts were
sent out, the cost was around $1,200.
The committee briefly discussed other events and staffing.
Downtown Tree Decorating Contest Update
Staff Rinearson said about 25 planters have been sponsored.
2021 Event Updates
The committee discussed Santa, band, event application and process, safety protocols, event schedule,
Jolly Jingle Run, street closures and merchants, and the Kitsap Bank Community Connections.
Woodside and Pet Parade
Staff Rinearson explained she has no information yet on the parade.
Additional discussion was held regarding what events the Port Orchard Bay Street Association and the
Port of Bremerton are planning, Christmas lights, lighted boats, purchase of large tree, social media
promotion, and painted rocks.
There being no further business, Chair Lucarelli adjourned the meeting at 4:30 p.m. Audio/Visual
recording was successful.
