033-16 - Teamsters Local No. 589 - Contract Amendment No. 1Memorandum of Understanding Amended to the AGREEMENT by and between CITY OF PORT ORCHARD, WASHINGTON And TEAMSTERS LOCAL 589 (Representing the Public Works Employees) dated January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2018 THIS AMENDMENT is supplemental to the AGREEMENT by and between the CITY OF PORT ROCHARD, WASHINGTON (the "City") and the TEAMSTERS LOCAL NO. 589 (the "TEAMSTERS") (representing the Public Works Employees), dated January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2018. WHEREAS, the parties have agreed that it is in the interests of both parties to amend the current 2016-2018 Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA") Section 8.10 STANDBY PAY; NOW THEREFORE, the City and the TEAMSTERS have entered into this Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") to memorialize the following agreement: To increase the efficiency in responding to Public Works emergencies during weekly off hours, the City will assign standby duty to the hours between Friday at 4:30 pm until Friday at 8:00 am and on holidays. The City is clarifying to the Local that this will not be considered a firm past practice in the next contract negotiations. It will be at the discretion of the City to evaluate the effectiveness of this change and if deemed necessary retains the ability to return to a dispatch system. Based upon Seniority, employees will be allowed to bid on standby duty for designated weeks during the calendar year. Should no employee bid on standby duty, the employee with the least seniority shall be assigned to standby duty by their supervisor. If, an employee scheduled to be on standby wishes to remove himself/herself from such standby duty due to illness or other extenuating circumstances, the employee shall first notify and obtain the expressed approval of his or her supervisor.
